Three members of my family including horse

Yesterday we were sanctimonious about the cruelty of Muslims who butcher goats during Eid Al Adha. We were boasting how, by contrast, ours was a religion of tolerance and non-violence.
But in the light of the following incident, let us reevaluate how tolerant and kind we are.

Baro is fifty years old. He hails from Lisadh in the district of Muzaffarnagar. Baro told me that three family members were killed. One of them was his ninety-year-old mother-in-law, Chhoti. Another was his seventy-year-old brother-in-law, Hakeemo. And the third was his horse, Dhaula.

Baro's mother-in-law and brother-in-law were killed by sword-wielding attackers, who then burnt them. They then knifed the horse who died right there. Then they burnt the house.

When I heard this, I thought that Muslims kill animals to eat them, but the killers of Baro's horse did not even eat it. If they did not wish to eat, why did they kill it?

But we are being told that this is religion. Hindus of India are eager to anoint the doyen of this mindless violence [Narendra Modi] the Prime Minister of India. To acquiesce in such insanity would itself be insane. Thus I have no choice but to raise my voice against such madness.
